The best places to stay in 2022

Although we are only just a few months into 2022, I have already been lucky enough to stay in some fabulous and gorgeous places around the UK. I thought I would share my favourite properties to help inspire you with where to stay this year and summarise why I loved them. Keeping reading to find my top 7 places to stay and why you should be heading there too.

Wilderness Reserve

Since first stumbling across Wilderness Reserve a couple of years ago, it has long been on my list of places to stay. When we finally booked it, I was so excited to arrive and check out the estate and our home for the weekend. Wilderness Reserve is split into 2 estates, Chapel Barn and Sibton Park. Both have a selection of beautiful properties from cosy cottages that sleep 2, all the way up to incredible barns that can sleep 38 people. We were based on Chapel Barn estate and stayed in the delightful and charming Hovel. The interiors at the Wilderness Reserve are country chic luxury. They beautifully mix together splashes of bright and bold colours and print with natural materials to create a fun and rustic vibe.

The Wild Rabbit

When you think of the Cotswolds, you probably already have an image in your head very much like The Wild Rabbit. With its honey-hued stone exterior with wisteria growing up it, a roaring fireplace inside and all situated in a quaint English village. The rooms offer pared-back style and let features in the room do the talking like the exposed brick walls, wooden beams and of course, fabulous furnisher. The Wild Rabbit is definitely a firm favourite with rooms often fully booked and the restaurant full most evenings, no matter if you just pop to the Cotswolds for a day, it really is a must-visit.

The Hoxton

The Hoxton is a series of open-house hotels all inspired by the streets and scenes that surround them. Think industrial touches, art-filled walls, and cosy soft furnishings. The Hoxton hotels can be found across London, Europe, and beyond so no matter where you travel, you are sure to find one of their beautiful hotels. The main lobby is full of sleek, velvet sofas to unwind on with a drink, fun art and prints line the walls and decorative pieces create talking points for you to admire. The bedroom interiors are more laid back but still with that fun twist that has become iconic to the hotel brand. With soft green panelled feature walls, velvet headboards, and artwork adorning the walls, they make for the perfect place to get ready for dinner but also to switch off at night time.

Greystones

Greystone Cottages is based in the heart of the charming town of Bakewell and is a great location to explore the rest of the Peak District. When we arrived we instantly fell in love with the beautiful, original features of the cottage and the luxury interior design. We stayed in Swallow Cottage which is a 3 bedroom cottage that can sleep up to 6 people and best of all it’s also dog friendly. We spent our days having morning coffee in the courtyard garden and evenings cosying up by the fire with a bottle of wine. Charming details fill every corner such as antique paintings and floral soft furnishings. The blend of modern touches and original features creates a romantic and quintessentially English appearance.

Birch

When I first stumbled across Birch a couple of years ago, I knew I needed to visit. Described as a place that ‘gives you the time and freedom to pause, think, create, and savour, so you feel energised and inspired, with new ideas and stories to tell.’ They offer so many activities and run daily, weekly and monthly classes that cater for all interests, so I was excited to visit on a personalised retreat tailored for what I want and need. Expect fun, colourful, creative, adventurous and quirky interiors throughout the main building at Birch hotel. Inspired by the original owner Lady Meux who was flamboyant, eccentric, and set about transforming the estate into a haven of frivolity, free spirits, and fun. Birch has recreated her love for boundary-breaking and challenging conventions, norms, and ideas by creating a whimsical world.

The Pig in the New Forest

Having already stayed at three of their sister hotels, I was interested to see how the Pig in the New Forest would compare. All of The Pig Hotels are stylish, country chic hideaways in beautiful settings so I knew I would also fall in love with the original hotel that started off these fabulous places to stay. Classic Pig Hotel decorations fill every room, so if you are a Pig lover like me, you will instantly know where you are as everything is very much on brand. From the velvet armchairs, potting shed themed restaurant and gorgeous inspired artwork and decor which makes you feel calm and connected to the nature that surrounds you. We stayed in the Forest Hut which was a charming escape in the woodlands with a stunning bathtub and floor to ceiling windows of the surrounding nature.

The Cider House

After finding this charming cabin on Unique Hideaways, I knew we would want to stay here, as it ticked so many of our boxes when we look for a UK staycation. They are dog friendly which is always a big win for us, had a hot tub which is a luxury extra we love to have and are based in the most gorgeous setting in Cornwall. The interiors in this cabin are seaside chic but with a big focus on comfort. The blue and white ornaments and lighting on ropes remind you that the coast is just a short drive away. Whereas, the fireplace and sofa make it easy for you to relax at this idyllic getaway. This helps create a home from home vibe, which is perfect for switching off and simply enjoying yourself.
