The best place to stay in Bridport, Dorset

First Impressions

To say I was beyond excited to stay at Stanley Place in Bridport, Dorset was an understatement. Many of you will know, that one of my favorite UK stays is Outbuildings. From their interiors, location, service and just all round attention to detail makes them a 10 out of 10 stay and Stanley Place was no exception. They have recently renovated a 2 bedroom townhouse in the heart of thriving market town Bridport into a stylish, luxurious and cosy retreat for up to 4 people. The stunning home is situated down an alleyway away from the hustle and bustle of the main town and is so peaceful making it the perfect holiday hideaway.

The Space

Downstairs is an open plan living, dining and kitchen area making it the hub of the home. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need for your stay and is full of beautiful crockery and crystal glassware. The living area is centred around the fireplace which is a great extra for creating cosy winter evenings and making it the place to relax from a day of exploring the local area. There is small courtyard outside where you can have your meals alfresco, or if bringing a dog with you, its a handy space to have for them to easily pop out.

Upstairs is the master bedroom complete with William Morris soft furnishings and the comfiest bed you will find. On this floor, you will also find a seperate toilet and the main bathroom. This isn’t just any bathroom, it has fabulous tiles, a roll top bath, rainfall walk-in shower and local Oleo bathroom products for you to enjoy. I loved taking a bath, lighting the candle and using the bath soak to help me unwind. Head up stairs again to the third floor and you will find 2 single beds located in the attic space which is the perfect hideaway for children.

Bridport

Bridport has everything you need for a staycation and allows you to not have to even take the car out. Head to Soulshine for lunch or pop in for a coffe and cake. Pick up local treats from Rise Market & Bakery, but don’t be put off by their location as inside is a beautiful farmers market. Pop into Dark Bear for some of the best cocktails around in a quirky setting, or try a local beer at The Pursuit of Hoppiness, or taste some wine at Morrish & Banham Wine. For dinner, visit Tortilla Cantina for authentic Mexican cusine and cocktails full of Tequilla or Dorshi for some of the best Asian food in Dorset. Shop in Cilla and Camilla, Yellow Gorse and Chilli by the Sea.

You can easily walk to West Bay which only takes around 30 minutes, and make sure you visit Rise for incredible food and drink in a divine setting. Or for something a little more fun, check out The Station Kitchen where you can dine in old carriages. From West Bay you can either walk along the coast path or beach to Burton Bradstock where you will find Hive Beach Cafe. Another great walk from Bridport is to Symondsbury Estate where you will find a farm shop, interiors and gifts and a gallery. You can also pick up food here but make sure you walk up to Colmers hill and back down Hells lane when you visit. If you dont mind venturing a little further then we would highly recommend The Anchor Inn at Seatown for incredible food overlooking the sea.

Overall Impression

The team behind the fabulous and luxurious Outbuildings have done it again. I loved the location of this property as it means you can enjoy all the very best Bridport and the coast line has to offer without getting in the car. I loved the familiar favourites of the candels, bathroom products and interiors from Outbuildings too, so if you have stayed with them before, you will love everything about Stanley Place. We loved the feature of the honesty bar as well which is full of spirits, wine, beer and more for you to enjoy. It’s little touches like this that make stays memorable and special and will want you coming back for more.
