A night at Britain’s Best Pub in the Cotswolds

First Impressions

Having just been named Britain’s best pub 2022, I knew I was in for a treat staying at The Frogmill. The revamped Cotswold inn was praised by the judges for the flawless operation, attention to detail and genuine hospitality which all helped them win this amazing award. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by all the staff and taken straight to our room. I was so excited to see our room after admiring so many pictures of it online. The Frogmill is situated just outside of Cheltenham so it’s the perfect place to stay and base yourself to explore more of the Cotswolds.

Interiors

This 16th-century Inn has been beautifully restored whilst still keeping the charming original features like fireplaces and beams. Our room was full of wonderful touches from old photos and paintings that adorned the walls, which were seamlessly mixed with comfy soft furnishings. The bar was one of my favourite places to relax as they had created such a warm and welcoming atmosphere by having cosy corners to dine and drink in. I loved the mix of vintage and antique pieces throughout the hotel which created a fun and unique talking points in every corner.

Room

The pub has 28 bespoke boutique bedrooms that all come with their own en-suite. They offer cosy rooms all the way up to suites, so there are plenty of options depending on whether you fancy a little snug for the night or want some outside space too. We stayed in their Signature room which was beyond beautiful. As you step in, the first thing you notice is the charming vaulted ceiling and oak beams which create a cosy and romantic setting. You also have a large bathroom which comes with a fabulous roll-top bath and your own private balcony with cosy seating to enjoy the views of the countryside. If you fancy a romantic getaway I would highly recommend booking this room.

Dining

All I can say about the food is, wow. We arrived in time for dinner so started our meal with a delicious homemade loaf and halloumi fries which as you can see from the photos below were incredible. For our mains, we had pizzas from their rustic pizza van outside. I also enjoyed working my way through their cocktail menu which had all the classics we know and love as well as some of their own tasty inventions. For breakfast, expect another delightful treat. They offer a buffet full of pastries, juices, cereal, fruit and much more. You can also order a freshly cooked breakfast too. We went for the avocado on toast and full English. Both of which were the perfect way to start our morning. They even offered to cook Morris, our dog, his own breakfast of sausages too which was such a lovely touch.

Overall Impression

Fabulous interiors, check. Charming room, check. Delicious food, check. Gorgeous setting, check. Dog-friendly, check! The Frogmill really does tick all your boxes for a delightful weekend away in the heart of the Cotswolds. You can definitely see why they won the award for Britain’s best pub 2022, as everything is just perfect. I will definitely be returning, even if it’s just for a mouth-watering meal and cocktail in the quaint garden and terrace. Another thing I loved is that a pub this beautiful and luxurious allows dogs as often that isn’t the case. I would highly recommend a stay here and definitely check into the signature room for an unforgettable night away.
