The Newt

Nestled in the middle of the Cotswolds and surrounded by serenely grazing livestock, Thyme is a charming estate that you will never want to leave. Known as a village within a village, this lifestyle brand not only has an exquisite country house hotel but also offers its guests a cookery school, charming shops, and cosy pubs to relax in. The hotel is full of restored historic buildings and has a mixture of cosy rooms, larger suites, and walled garden cottages to stay in. Head towards their shops to treat yourself to sustainable homeware, something from their fashion boutique, or a one-off antique treasure to take a snippet of the Cotswolds home with you. Finish off your night away with a delightful meal at one of their pubs for a perfect evening of delightful settings and delicious food.

Retreat East
If you’re in need of the ultimate escape to the country, you’ll find it at Retreat East. Tucked away in the Suffolk countryside, this restored 16th-century farm has been converted into eco-conscious luxury barns and rooms, which look out onto 35 acres of pristine meadows. And if you think that sounds inviting, there is also an on-site spa and outdoor Jacuzzi to relax in. Retreat East offers a choice of accommodation, ranging from cosy rooms for two to a four-bed farmhouse that sleeps eight. Each of the barns are just as beautiful from the outside as they are in, with wood cladding and rustic brick. This members’ club which welcomes non-members for overnight stays, is a slice of pure heaven.

Tucked away by Loch Nell and surrounded by ancient oak trees are two off-the-grid, beautifully designed bothies. Inverlonan offers you seclusion and a chance to disconnect from the modern world and connect back to the nature surrounding your home. The cabins are only accessible by boat, foot, or buggy so you will start your stay off as you mean to go on. So you don’t have to leave the comfort of your home, they can also supply you with food provisions that can be delivered straight to your door. Each cabin has a private deck, open fire pit, and outdoor wood-fired pizza oven so you will be able to cook up your meals outside. You’ll also have a private eco-toilet and outdoor shower but why not bathe in the lake to really immerse yourself in the bothy experience.

The Pig Hotels
The Pig Hotels have eight country hotels around England including the beautiful Devon, Cornwall, and Bath. They class themselves as restaurants with rooms as the focus of The Pig, is on the food they provide. They try and produce as much as they can themselves in their kitchen gardens or source from within 25-miles. So for foodie lovers, this is an unforgettable night away. Barnsley House, near Cirencester, is located in the beautiful Cotswold countryside. You won’t even need to leave the hotel as they have their own spa which is hidden in the garden. It includes a tranquil outdoor hydrotherapy pool, a sauna, and a steam room and you can also indulge yourself in some of the most relaxing spa treatments. That’s not all, they also have their very own private 30 seater cinema. So if you are looking for a romantic date night, then either check out their upcoming screenings or hire the venue for yourselves and pick through their DVD library from action film to chick-flicks. If you are just looking to unwind then take a walk through their gardens and immerse yourself in nature. They have an onsite restaurant which is divine, or across the road, they also own the Village Pub, for more relaxed, country dining.

Gara Rock
Luxury clifftop hotel, Gara Rock, has the best unspoilt panoramic coastal views. You can pick from rooms, suites, apartments, and cottages to stay in so whether it’s a romantic holiday for 2 or a staycation with the family, you will find the perfect base. They are so much more than just a hotel too, with a delicious restaurant and bar to unwind at with a bottle of wine and dinner in, a cinema room to cosy up to and watch your favourite film, and an indulgent spa with an indoor and outdoor pool which all overlook the sea. You can walk to Salcombe along the coast path which is a lovely walk and then get a boat over to the Island. If you are looking to escape the 9-5 and completely switch off, then this is the place for you.

If you are looking for somewhere to stay that is stylish, luxurious, and just amazing, then book a stay at the Artist Residence. They have places in Penzance, London, Oxfordshire, Bristol and Brighton so you can choose whether you want a break to the sea, city of country. The rooms are so beautifully decorated that you will want to stay in all of them with luxury furnishings, delightful antiques, and bohemian styling. Most of their superior rooms come with an incredible roll-top bath where you will want to bathe in morning, noon and night. Their clubhouse offers amazing drinks, so you can have a cheeky cocktail while you get ready for dinner and a delicious range for breakfast. They really know how to make every aspect of your stay special and all the staff are so friendly and helpful it just made our stay even more perfect.

Head to the Glass House for afternoon tea in style or Hearth for a simple and heartfelt dinner. Unwind after dinner with a cocktail in the fabulous Moon bar or go to The Cellar to try out some incredible wines.

Be prepared for inspiration by the sea at The Gallivant. With luxury around every corner, food is made with love and comfort to make you smile. This charming country estate is a wonderful staycation no matter who your travel companion is as Gleneagles has it all.
