A grand getaway to Henge Estate

First Impression

Looking to live out your Bridgerton, Downton Abbey or Jane Austen dreams? Then Henge Estate is the place you need to be. Arriving down a winding road with horses trotting around the 25 acres that surround the property, I literally felt like I had stepped back in time and was arriving in a period movie. Henge Estate is set in the Wiltshire countryside and is a luxurious, sustainable Georgian home that has been beautifully restored. Just the exterior of the building was breathtaking, let alone when we stepped inside to the exquisite hallway with a winding staircase. To say we were impressed was an understatement. The property can sleep 2-24 guests so we were beyond excited to explore the house and pick our room for our grand getaway.

Interiors

Expect a seamless mix of traditional and cosy interiors that match the history of the home, with modern touches such as the striking wallpapers, gorgeous bathroom features and luxurious kitchen. The colours and prints around Henge Estate give a nod to Georgian elegance with a 21st-century twist. We loved that all the bathrooms and bedrooms are individually decorated with their own colour pallet and design. This made it difficult to choose which room we wanted for our stay as every room was unique and had its own character.

Rooms

Henge Estate has 9 bedrooms and a 1 bedroom annexe next to the main building so can comfortably sleep up to 24 people. Most of the rooms are doubles and come with their own en-suite and some even have a bathtub too. Downstairs is a huge open-plan kitchen and dining area which opens up to a courtyard on one side and the gardens on the other. This really is the hub of the home and where we found ourselves hanging out and relaxing during the day. There are also 2 cosy lounges to unwind in and both have a fireplace to warm up the winter months. There is also a spectacular dining room which would make for an unbelievable banquet if you fancied hosting an event during your stay.

Extras

There are 25 acres to explore, so whether you come with children, dogs or just adults, there are plenty of places to walk and keep everyone entertained. There are tennis courts if you fancy having a game or two and croquet sets if you want to keep up the competitive spirit. They currently have a temporary outside pool that overlooks the fields and horses which was a great place for a dip (they are looking into creating an impressive indoor pool, so keep an eye out for that.) There is a charming walled garden full of cottage garden plants and ornaments to relax in if you want a peaceful retreat. For children, there is also a play area where they can expect to find swings, trampolines, sand pits and more. It really is the sort of place you never need to or want to leave.

Overall Impression

We loved spending our mornings enjoying a drink on the balcony to admire the view and nature and our evenings cooking on the BBQ outside. We soon settled into such a wonderful way of life here that it was a struggle to leave. Henge Estate would make for a great place to visit with friends and family for a fun getaway or for a celebration. There is plenty of space for everyone to have their own privacy but also wonderful spaces for everyone to come together. The fact it is child and dog friendly too is a great win so that everyone can come along on your grand trip away. Check out their other extras for when you book if you fancy a private chef, onsite spa treatments and more. This really is the place to feel like royalty.
