A luxury hotel in Rock, Cornwall

First Impressions

With views of the estuary, St Enodoc Hotel is perfectly positioned in the heart of Rock, Cornwall. With long stretches of golden sandy beaches, Rock is the perfect family and dog-friendly place to visit the Cornish coast. You arrive at a grand entrance of stairs leading to the main building and sneak peeks of the heated outdoor pool, dining area and grounds that hug the hotel. We arrived at lunchtime as we were booked onto their incredible BBQ feast on the terrace, so decided to explore more of the hotel and grounds before checking into our room. There are 2 lounges where you can relax with a book by the fire, or spend evenings drinking cocktails and talking the night away. They also have a room filled with different games to keep kids of all ages entertained.

Interiors

Cornish paintings line the walls of the hotel to celebrate the local area, whilst pops of colour can be found in cushions to add a fun touch to this laid back, luxury hotel. The restaurants are both chic and stylish with the continuation of local artwork but the main focus is on the view over the camel river. The blue soft furnishings in our bedroom created a cool, calm and coastal atmosphere and allowed us to relax and enjoy the space fully.

Room

St Enodoc has seventeen double rooms and four suites to choose from and many offer views of the estuary. Stay in their Room without a View which is a cosy hideaway for a night away or indulge yourself in a family suite for lots of space and luxury touches. We stayed in a superior double room with estuary rooms and it was the perfect bolthole. The room comes with a super king bed and a window seat to take in those stunning views. The en-suite has a bathtub to soak in and is filled with my favourite, Bramley products. Many rooms are also dog friendly which allows the whole family to come and enjoy a stay at St Enodoc.

Dining

If you are a foodie, you are going to want to visit St Enodoc. In the summer months, they run a BBQ every Saturday at lunchtime which was utterly delicious. Each person picks two snacks. We decided on the warm country loaf with dips, crispy buffalo cauliflower and saffron arancini. I could have eaten this all over again as it was so tasty. For your mains, you again pick 2 items from the BBQ. This time we went for the BBQ Aubergine and beer can cabbage. I’m not usually a cabbage fan but the chef has done an incredible job of creating a dish that is full of flavour. Along with your mains, you get a selection of sides and salads that were the perfect touch to our BBQ.

Overall Impression

There is a lot to be loved and impressed by at St Enodoc hotel. The BBQ was a highlight for us and we would definitely return when in the area for lunch again. Our bedroom was a delightful haven full of seaside charm and we couldn’t take our eyes off watching the sea come in and out during our stay. The heated pool is another great touch and a brilliant benefit if travelling with children. I also love the fact they are dog friendly, as other luxurious hotels often aren’t. Check out their other restaurant, Karrek, which is an intimate fine dining experience. If you are a foodie, you will really love every moment here.
