A luxury spa retreat in the Cotswolds

First Impressions

A spa day at Bamford Wellness Spa has long been on my list since visiting Daylesford. I often head to the Bamford building for something to eat as they do a great selection of delicious and healthy food and drink options and not many people seem to know about it so it’s always quiet. We picked their B Clear Spa day which is £200 and for that you receive; a 60-minute De-stress massage, a 60 minute class of your choice, a nourishing seasonal organic lunch and use of the spa facilities. We also decided to pay an extra £18 to add another class to our day too. I couldn’t wait for a day of pure relaxation and indulgence and was excited to try out their classes and treatments.

Spa Facilities

Normally if I go to a spa I’m moving around from the pool to the sauna, then steam room and hot tub and don’t 100% relax all day as I want to make the most of all the facilities. However, the great thing about this spa day was that it felt more of a retreat as we got to try out multiple experiences. You get an hour in their ‘Spring’ with the day spa package. Inside the Spring is a beautiful Herbal Sauna, a Crystal Steam Room and Hydro Pool to unwind in. As you only get an hour it means you pretty much get these facilities to yourself which is a great touch and after everything else we had done that day, an hour was the perfect amount to relax in the spring before heading home.

Spa treatments and classes

We started our day with the de-stress massage which was honestly one of the best treatments I have experienced. The masseuse started with a foot soak and massage while detailing the treatments and let me pick the essential oil that most appealed to my needs and senses. The back massage was the perfect amount of pressure to help relax my muscles and release tension. It was finished with a rose quartz eye mask and a reflexology foot treatment. We also attended a yoga class which was a great way to get the body moving again after the massage and work up an appetite for lunch. In the afternoon we added on a sound healing class. I have experienced one before and it’s honestly the best way to completely give in and switch off and listen to your spiritual needs.

Dining

As part of the day spa package, you get a delicious and nutritious lunch. You are able to pick a homemade soup to start and then a meal of your choice. Alongside this you also get a drink too, so we opted for a glass of Daylesford sparkling wine. All the food was absolutely what you want from a spa day as it kept us fueled but wasn’t too heavy. I often eat and drink in their Orchard Bar as it’s quieter compared to their other restaurants and has a very calming energy about it. It also has a cute outside area, so in the warmer months, you can sit in their courtyard too.

Overall Impression

I had literally the best day at Bamford Wellness Spa and its the most delightful setting in Daylesford. It was such a refreshing change from a normal spa day I have experienced as we did classes and had treatments. This made me feel more energised and rejuvenated throughout the day as we were always moving but in a mindful way. Although at first, it seemed expensive compared to other spa days I have visited, I now feel considering all the things we did throughout the day it was actually a fair price. I will definitely be heading back every year now for some ‘me’ time and a day full of self care luxury.
