The Yard in Bath Hotel review

First Impressions

I originally booked The Yard pretty last minute as we were attending Pub in the Park in Bath, so thought why not stay the night. It had only been open for about 2 weeks by the time we stayed so everything was shiny and new. It’s located right in the heart of the city center so you only have to walk for 5 minutes to come across the shops and landmarks like The Crescent. When you first arrive you are welcomed by a sweet lounge full of comfy chairs and tables to relax in. The reception is off to the left where the bar/restaurant is also located which is a stylish room filled with luxury decor and charming soft furnishings.

Interiors

This chic hideaway definitely celebrates the culture and history of the city of Bath with splashes of muted pastels and covetable vintage finds. The eccentric wallpaper is sourced from Stroud-based Lewis & Wood and funky woolen throws from local weaver Katherine Fraser, which gives every room a personal and local touch. The hotel has a boutique style which is evident the moment you see the building but waiting inside is a city retreat of luxury and comfort.

Rooms

They have 14 king-size bedrooms to choose from, starting at a cosy King from £95 a night, a classic King, larger King, all the way up to the fabulous Larger king-size bedroom with a roof terrace. We just chose the cosy king and although it is on the smaller size, it’s still perfect for a night away. The rooms are all beautifully decorated with striking, colourful wallpaper that takes centre stage in the room, patterned cushions and blankets. The rooms combine traditional fabrics from local designers and restored historic features, ensuring no two rooms are the same. Each room is full of luxury touches from the rainfall showers, REN toiletries, Roberts Radios and fully stocked mini-bar,  providing you with a home from home environment.

Dining

After our dinner out in Bath, we headed back for a cocktail in the bar area which was the perfect way to end our day. They provide a range of delicious wine, local beers, and fun cocktails to try as well as sharing boards if you are feeling peckish. Each morning at 8 am, breakfast is delivered to your door, and best of all it’s included in the price. They use produce from local suppliers such as Hobbs house croissants, organic natural yoghurts, homemade granola, and bottles of freshly squeezed orange juice. This means you only need to stubble to your door to collect your breakfast when you are ready and enjoy it all in your bed.

Overall Impression

The Yard in Bath is the place to be for boutique luxury in the heart of the city. The outside courtyard makes for the perfect setting for sipping drinks in the summer months or cosy up by the fire in the bar area on one of their gorgeous armchairs in the winter. It was once a coaching inn, but they have restored the hotel with each bedroom purposefully unique in its design adding charm and character throughout the building. This will definitely be my go-to place to stay in Bath.
