A Guide to Fun Lockdown Date Ideas

We have made it 2 weeks of another lockdown (but god, does it feel longer than that!) but as we have another 2 weeks to go it’s important to make sure you are still having fun at home and having dates whilst we can’t go out.

Whether you live with a friend or a partner, or even alone (Zoom was created for lockdown), you can still get involved and make sure you are connecting and having quality time together through this lockdown. So have a read below of some fun date ideas to do during this Lockdown and get planning your first one for this weekend.

Cinema night

We did this in the first lockdown as the weather was so lovely to be outside, however you can create something similar indoors. I bought a projector from a selling site, but you could also ask around as you never know if friends or family might have one that you could borrow. We set up lots of duvets and cushions to get comfy and put a tent up, which made it extra cosy, but inside you could still do that and light lots of candles too. Go all out and make popcorn to have while you watch your film or even have takeaway pizza, some prosecco, and other treats, to make it extra special.

Make a fakeaway

You might be missing your favourite restaurants at the moment like Wagamas and Nandos, so why not get creative in the kitchen and make your own favourite meal out. Google has so many great ideas for recipes inspired by fast-food chains and high street restaurants, so pick the one you are missing and try out a new meal. Think outside the box as well, is there a place abroad you loved to eat at, that you can’t wait to get back to? We love Torchy’s in Texas, so I created some of their meals off their menu to take us back to our happy place.

Games night

I love a games night and love getting out a classic board game with some wine, cheese, and snacks, and having some friendly bets on who will win. If board games aren’t really your thing then you could play cards, video games, or even some outdoor games in your garden like croquet, darts, or boules (If the weather allows it.) Make it competitive with a scoring sheet and get points every time you win multiple games and maybe a forfeit if you lose, you could do this on the night you play, or even across a whole week or two. You could always make them into drinking games to have some more fun with it too. With lockdown also comes more virtual events too, like murder mysteries, escape rooms, and quizzes, which means you can get the whole family involved, so try something a bit different and have a fun date night in altogether.

Afternoon tea at home

Just because restaurants and hotels are closed at the moment, doesn’t mean you can’t have a bit of luxury in your life and have afternoon tea at home. The last lockdown I did an afternoon tea party where I made different sandwiches, scones, and cakes to have with a bottle of fizz and play games in the garden. However, if you aren’t a baker then dont worry as many places offer an at home afternoon tea meal and provide you with all the goodies so you could always get one delivered instead. Some places do ones for kids as well and I managed to find some dog friendly, Oreo’s, Bourbon biscuits, and other wonderful treats for Morris to join in too. Check out this article for some at home inspiration and Frenchie Frenchie for some creative dog treats so they can join in the fun too.

Make a 3 course meal

We all have more than enough time on our hands at the moment, so why not spoil someone with a romantic 3-course meal. Get your recipe books out and find some fun meals to make, or make all their favourite foods. You could have a themed night too and make the meal, cocktails and even the clothes and music all themed to a country like Mexico, Thailand or Italy. If you live alone why not cook the same meal on a video call with a friend, play some music to sing and dance along too while you cook and then see whose comes out best.

Cocktail evening

Who doesn’t love a cocktail, from a Porn Star Martini to a Bloody Mary, or a Margarita to a Zombie, whatever your tastes, there is definitely a cocktail out there for you. So get some cheese, bread, and snacks in and each have a go at making one another a different cocktail. There are so many wonderful recipes online to make the classics, or get creative and throw anything in there and why not get some cute decorations to go in them too. Check out your local vineyard too, as some are doing a virtual wine tasting, so if you are looking for something a bit more classy this could be for you. Or you can buy some fabulous kits to do your own wine tasting at home.

Spa Night

I love going to the spa and this is something I am missing at the moment, so I try and have little pamper nights at home to treat myself to some mini treatments. From giving myself a manicure to doing a body scrub and creating a homemade face mask. So why not make a face or hair mask each to try and relax with a glass of champagne in your hand too. There are many different ones you can buy if you aren’t up to making your own but most importantly just make sure you relax and unwind with your at home spa. You can even give one another massages, play relaxing music, light candles, and have fun doing different treatments for one another.

Have an indoor camp

So the weather might not be great for camping or just dinners outside now but don’t wait for next year, bring the camp inside to you. Bring in your tent, or make a fort or den with all your duvets, cushions, and blankets and get cosy. Make smores or chocolate fondue with all the trimmings and watch a film as you have a romantic camping experience indoors. You could make an indoor BBQ in your oven and have some beers so you really do feel like your outside camping.

Have a cook off or a bake off

Challenge one another to make a meal or a pudding and see whose is the best, or you could get one of you to make the main course and the other person can do the desert. You will have fun cooking together and trying out new recipes but then after all that hard work, you can indulge in some delicious food. Why not make it a weekly thing, that one of you has to cook the other a meal from scratch as a lovely treat and rate one another as the weeks go on.
